Attendance Information

Attendance Information for Parents

Did you know that:

  • The Department for Education requires that children must attend school for 190 full days (380 half sessions) during any school year.

  • Government attendance policy is to not authorise holidays during term time. In addition, from September 2015 the Government introduced a new attendance measure.

Pupils with less than 90% will be classed as Persistent Absence Pupils.

(90% attendance means your child has had 20 days absent from school!)

  • The Government (Department for Education & Ofsted) expect schools to take action where a pupil’s attendance falls below this standard.

Keeping track of your child’s attendance

To help you keep track of your child’s attendance, at the end of each term we send your child’s attendance card home. This allows you to compare this to the Government standard.

Here is our guide to interpreting the numbers!
